Camp Orkila Wedding | San Juan Islands
Katie and Todd chose to have their Orcas Island Wedding at Camp Orkila. Camp Orkila is a YMCA youth camp situated right on the coast of a beautiful wooded area of the island, and it holds special meaning to both of them. Most summer days at Camp Orkila are filled with the laughter of young campers making life long memories. For one short weekend in April it wasn’t young campers occupying the cabins. Instead 150 of Katie & Todd’s guests had the times of their lives during a whole wedding weekend.
The day started in a small cabin filled with bridesmaids and moms getting ready. Around the rest of the camp guests were enjoying everything from ziplines to traditional summer camp snack time. Even though it was April and clouds threatened rain all day, the camp just felt like a carefree summer day. After their super sweet first look, we took a hike around the woods and down to one of the beaches for photos. One of our stops was Chapel Rock, a special spot at Camp Orkila.
One of the things that was so striking about Katie & Todd’s day was how they looked at one another. From their first look, to their vows during the ceremony, and even during toasts – you could tell just how much love was in each one of those looks. That much love is such a joy to photograph, and be witness to, on a wedding day.
