Sarah & Nathan’s Love Story | A Woodland Robin Hood Village Wedding in Union, Washington
Sarah and Nathan are two of the coolest people we know. I mean, they played Rock, Paper, Scissors during their wedding ceremony to determine who said their vows first. We’re pretty sure that’s a qualifier. When Sarah and Nathan first contacted us about photographing their wedding they weren’t quite sure where they were getting married. They knew they wanted to showcase the raw beauty of the Pacific Northwest, since many of their guests would be traveling. They picked Robin Hood Resort Village in Union, Washington and couldn’t have made a better choice. In our opinion, nature is the best backdrop, and there was plenty of that to go around at their Robin Hood Village wedding. They had a small, intimate ceremony next to a babbling creek. The first time Sarah and Nathan saw each other on their wedding day was when Sarah walked down the aisle, and Nathan’s reaction to seeing his bride was palpable. After 4 rounds of Rock, Paper, Scissors (yes, they tied THREE times. That’s fate right there.) Sarah and Nathan exchanged vows to each other that had the whole group tearing up. As emotionally awesome as Sarah and Nathan’s ceremony was, these two goof off and have a ton of fun together. Possibly one of the highlights of the afternoon was when a goat photobombed bridal party photos. Everyone totally embraced the photo opportunity! When it came for cake cutting time, cupcakes met faces frosting-first. We capped off the night with sunset photos on the Hood Canal, and just at dusk Sarah and Nathan sent off a lantern, a nod to their favorite traditional holiday from their time adventuring in Thailand. “It is believed that launching one of these lanterns can send a person’s bad luck and misfortune away in the air, especially if it disappears from view before the fire goest out.”
