Moody Olympic National Park Elopement in the Sol Duc Valley
Moody Spring Elopement in the Sol Duc Valley of Olympic National Park
“With its incredible range of precipitation and elevation, diversity is the hallmark of Olympic National Park. Encompassing nearly a million acres, the park protects a vast wilderness, thousands of years of human history, and several distinctly different ecosystems, including glacier-capped mountains, old-growth temperate rain forests, and over 70 miles of wild coastline.”
This moody Olympic National Park elopement is full of stereotypical PNW charm. (True “hoa, hoa, hoa” weather, iykyk). A cloudy day in the mossy forest of the Ancient Groves Trailhead makes the green, mossy forest stand out spectacularly – and it was exactly what this couple dreamed up when they planned their elopement in Washington from out of state.
So many couples plan a wedding in Washington from afar. Some even without ever visiting before their elopement. We are so glad to say that eloping in Washington always lives up to the expectations of our couples and their guests.
This couple found an amazing natural arch along the trail to get married under. The tree was bent perfectly in the shape of an arbor, and was decorated with a heavy carpet of moss. Nature makes the best backdrops!
After the ceremony we hiked the rest of the trail with the couple, snapping their portraits along the way. When we made it back to the trailhead, celebratory cupcakes were ready out of the back of one of the vehicles. We always adore this casual level of celebration for an elopement. You can take the wedding traditions you want and make them fit your eloping style.
For the rest of the evening, we explored Olympic National park with the couple. Lake Crescent was blanketed in fog, adding a moody ambiance to their photos. The lake was as still as we’ve ever seen it, so we had to take advantage with some fun reflections.
On the other hand, when we headed out to the coast the skies were clear and the sun was setting spectacularly. We hurried down to a rocky cove to catch the last rays of the sun. Soaking in the sunset together is one of the best parts of an adventure elopement!
